Half Marathon results
Benjamin Douglas (1:16:51.8) bested almost 1,200 runners to win the 27th annual Great North West Marathon in Blackpool, England.
Philip Eccleston earned runner-up honors in the windy and rainy seaside run with a time of 1:17:02.9.
He finished sixth a year ago.
Third place was decided by less than a second, with Tim Bonham (1:21:21.2) topping Graeme Prescott (1:21:21.6).
Five other runners finished within 30 seconds of the pair.
For the women, it was Stephanie Burns (1:28:06.4) striding to victory.
Karen Bridge secured second with a time of 1:34:30.7.
Rebecca Robinson (1:35:36.6) rounded out the top three.
She finished seventh in last year’s race.
