about-the-event
The Buddies Ride Featuring 2x National Champions Curtis White is presented by Foundation Cycling New York, the Valley Rock Inn, Star Track, New Jersey Cycling Association and Signature Cycles.
This 29-mile ride through Harriman State Park will be led by Curtis White and other regional stars at a friendly pace. A 21-mile bailout option will be available. The ride will be fully supported with a single stop for a group photo.
Popular and articulate, Curtis grew up in nearby Duanesburg, NY. While a national caliber racer on the pro road, criterium and gravel circuit, he is a world class cyclo-cross star. He has won the elite men's national title, several Pan-American titles, and more than 40 UCI races.
He also won academic honors while earning a degree in classics with a minor in humanities and law. Curtis' sister, Emma White, won a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics. His podcast, In the Red, has tens of thousands of downloads as he interviews guests from all facets of bike culture.
After the ride, participants will be invited to a reception with appetizers and drinks to learn about the powerful work done by Best Buddies International. Riders will also learn about ways they can support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) both locally and globally through participation Challenges and Camps.
Friends without bikes are welcome to attend the reception.
