The Friends of Allegany Arc is excited to announce that we will be holding our annual race on Saturday, June 24, 2023. This year will be a 5k and a 1 mile color run to spread awareness of disabilities, and celebrating Disability Pride, honoring the diversity within the disability community, reflecting on issues that people with disabilities are facing, and inspiring action to make the world more inclusive and accessible.
Open to all ages.

Check in time: 8:30 a.m.
5K Run: 9:30 a.m.
One Mile Fun Run: 9:40 a.m.
Entry Fees:
5k: $25/participant until 6/16; $30 after.
1 Mile Fun Run: $10/participant until 6/16; $15 after.
Prizes will be awarded for top 3 overall male and female winners, and overall one-mile fun run winner.
The course starts at The Arc Allegany-Steuben and winds through the streets of Wellsville, ending back at The Arc Allegany- Steuben. Register by Monday, June 5, 2023 to receive a free t-shirt. Day-of registration is available. Bib pick-up begins at 8:30, race starts at 9:30. Reminder this is a color run - wear light colors!!!

Location
The race begins and ends at 240 O’Connor Street, Wellsville NY. Parking is available off-site with shuttle buses available. Please arrive early – participants must sign-in upon entry and this takes a few extra minutes.
Parking
Event parking is available at the old Pfuntner Sales & Service Inc. (106 Railroad Avenue, Wellsville). Shuttle buses will be available to transport runners to and from the starting line.
About Disability Pride:
What does disability pride mean?
Disability pride means you take pride in your whole self, which includes your disability. It means you understand your limitations, including chronic pain or illness, but accept and love who you are.
Why is disability pride important?
Since disability pride is a fairly new concept, it is important for people with disabilities to be proudly visible in the community. The disability pride movement wants to present people with disabilities as people living their lives in plain view proud of their identity.
What do the Colors Mean?
The Disability Pride Flag was created by Ann Magill, a disabled women. Each one of the elements symbolizes a segment of the disability community. Below is a breakdown of the flag:
