Gemini Virgo Productions (GVP) designs and produces events that showcase the best and safest routes, and has spent 16 months working alongside the City of Phoenix to designing a premium event course that highlights the very best Phoenix has to offer, while also creating the safest course possible. Through that process and in evaluating the existing course which would have routed the participants through downtown Phoenix, GVP has decided to postpone the Phoenix Rising Marathon, Half Marathon, and 5K for 2015, originally scheduled for November 29th, 2015.
GVP continues to work with the City of Phoenix to create a safe and exciting course for all our participants and we are very excited about the changes currently in progress. These changes will move our inaugural event to December 2016. The new course will still start and finish in downtown Phoenix and the finish line will feature a thrilling moment on Chase Field just beyond second base. Based on current conversations with the city, GVP anticipates releasing a course map by early November 2015.
There were a number of safety issues addressed with the original proposed route. Gemini Virgo Productions top priority is the safety of its participants, spectators and event crew. As we continue to work with the City of Phoenix one thing is assured, the 2016 course will still start and finish in downtown Phoenix, and the finish line will remain on Chase Field.
“We continue to work alongside the city to create an amazing event for everyone to enjoy” said David Ranck, CEO of Gemini Virgo Productions. “We exhausted all options and concluded it best to postpone the event. The outpouring of support we’ve received from the local running community has been incredible, and we are committed to this event and it future participants.”
