Inca Marathon Vilcabamba-Machu Picchu

An experience of a lifetime! The trip itself was pretty great and well organized, I actually wish we had more time and I’m sure to visit Peru again in the near future. But the race… the first half is tough but incredible! Waking up very early to start with the sunrise, running through clouds in the Andes, going down ancient Inca trails surrounded by butterflies… the second half is much easier, almost all downhill on a nice dirt road as you pass through jungle and plantations to reach Aguas Calientes (just be careful with the dogs).

Actually a little over a marathon, my watch logged 46km in total.

I had the great pleasure of participating in the first edition of the Inca Marathon. The program was very well organized, full of cultural highlights and stunning views. The Marathon location was breathtaking: snowy peaks of Andes, down: forset with parrots and coffee beans. I definitely made memories for life. Highly recommend!
