DPR Trail Races

For all three races, the section of the course near the start and finish line will be along single track dirt path. The remainder of the races will be entirely on the DPR Trail (a wide, flat crushed gravel surface). All runners will head south on the DPR Trail for 2 miles to a runner check-in along Half Day Rd before returning north on the DPR Trail passing the start/finish line at Aid Station #1. From that point all runners will continue north on the DPR Trail to their respective north turn-around points: Aid Station #4 in Independence Grove for the Marathoners, and Aid Station #7 just south of Wadsworth Rd for the 50 milers. The course has been aligned with the DPR Trail Mile Markers, with our DPR Race Mile Markers for both races affixed to the Forest Preserve posts. So all runners will have accurate mile markers (at 1 mile increments) throughout their races. When returning southbound from the northern turn-around points, the runners will continue on the DPR Trail past the start/finish line area, returning to the south turn-around point at Half Day Rd (the same as their start). From there, the runnersr will head back north on the DPR Trail until they are directed off the trail and into the finish line area. The south turn-around point is only for runner check-in and is not an Aid Station. There are 5 manned and 2 unmanned Aid Stations along the 50 mile course, and 3 manned and 1 unmanned for the marathoners
