Inua 5k Run and Walk

Sprinting towards Self-Sufficiency   Join us February 15, 2025 in Blue Jacket Park for our 8th annual Inua 5k to support Inua Partners in Hope.  

 

ABOUT RACE We are looking forward to having your support and participation in the 9th annual Inua 5k to raise money for Inua Partners in Hope.  Join us IN-PERSON or VIRTUALLY this year!   We are looking forward to another fun Finish Line Celebration and are excited to have LIVE music back again this year provided by the School of Rock Oviedo House band.  Plan to stick around after the race to enjoy music, food, fellowship, and awards to support Inua Partners in Hope.   Over the past seven years, this event has raised over $200,000 to support Inua Partners in Hope, a program designed to break the cycle of poverty and move orphaned and vulnerable youth in Kenya from dependency to self-sufficiency.  Inua Partners in Hope is a joint ministry of First United Methodist Church Winter Park and Naivasha United Methodist Church in Naivasha, Kenya.  Visit our website for more information about the program: www.InuaPartners.org                        NEW THIS YEAR!! The first 100 participants to register for the in-person 5k will receive an Africa luggage tag from R. Nicolas! Tags can be picked up at packet pickup or on race day.   Plus, we are excited to offer ALL 5k participants one month of free coaching ($39 value) from Runzy.com.  Runzy offers coaching to all skill levels as well as to walkers and runners alike.  Learn more at www.Runzy.com.   RACE SCHEDULE Saturday, February 15, 2025 5k - 7:30am start 5k Awards - 8:30am FREE kids' run - 9:00am   LOCATION, DIRECTIONS, and PARKING Start/Finish area located near the intersection of Robin Road and Upper Park Road in Baldwin Park.  Address to be used for GPS directions is 2330 Robin Road, Orlando, FL.  Parking is available along Upper Park Road and Lower Park Road as well as in the public parking lot off General Rees Avenue.   COURSE The course is a loop that begins and ends in Lower Blue Jacket Park.  Our race begins in Blue Jacket Park near the intersection of Robin Road and Upper Park Road in Baldwin Park.  Runners will follow the sidewalk within Blue Jacket Park, then cross Lakemont to wind around beautiful Lake Baldwin’s paved trail.  Finish will be back in Blue Jacket Park.  Bicycles, roller skates, in-line skates, and dogs will be prohibited from the race course. The use of headphones is discouraged. Check out the Race Course Tab to see the official route, as well as a few local courses if you choose the virtual option.     PRICING November 1, 2023 - December 31, 2023: $30 (all ages) January 1, 2024 - February 23, 2024: $35 (all ages) Race Day, February 24, 2024: $40 (all ages)   Virtual 5k: $25 (all ages)   Kids’ Run: Free (must register)    Walk-up registration will be available at packet pick-up & on race day!  Shirt Sizes are NOT guaranteed for race day registration and race day packet pickup.

All entrants are subject to a $3.00-3.50 convenience fee for online registration.  

  PACKET PICK-UP  Packet pick-up will be located at our Reeves Center; 1506 Lake Highland Drive, Building 200; Orlando, FL 32803 Thursday, February 22 AND Friday, February 23 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm You may have another runner pick-up your packet for you. RACE DAY PACKET PICKUP AT START LINE BEGINS AT 6:00AM    STROLLERS We are happy to have you join us with your jogging strollers, but please be courteous of other participants and start BEHIND all runners.  Stroller/jogger operators must yield the right of way to runners; please do not weave through packs of runners.  Have fun and stay safe!   WALKER FRIENDLY
Walkers are welcome and encouraged to participate in the Inua 5k!  Please allow runners to line up in front of walkers.   RESULTS
Results will be available at the race.  Runners and walkers who wear the designated chip are included in the race results.

 

AWARDS  Top three overall males and top three overall females will receive awards.  Awards will also be given to the top three males and females in each age group.  Kids’ Run participants will each receive a medal.

 

T-SHIRTS and MEDALS  All participants will receive a t-shirt and finisher's medal with the 5k and virtual 5k options.  Kid's running the FREE kids' run will receive a kids' run medal and can purchase a shirt for $8 at registration or on race day (while they last).  

 

KIDS' RUN  Children will be divided into age groups and distances will range from 400 yards to 1 mile.  Medal given to all finishers.  Kids' run is free.  Please register children 11 and under.  The Kids' Run is FREE and T-shirts are available for purchase at registration and on race day - $8/each, while supplies last.   VIRTUAL 5k Won't be in town for the race, but still want to support our cause?  Register as a virtual runner and run your own 5k anywhere in the world.  T-shirts and medals are available for virtual runners.  Items can be picked up during regular packet pick-up times or you can choose to have items mailed directly to you.  Cost for shipping is $7.50 for up to 4 race packets to one address.

We'd love for your to create your own fundraising page or join a team and work together to help raise money for Inua Partners in Hope.  Check out our BECOME A FUNDRAISER page to create your individual or team fundraiser.  A sample letter and intro paragraph has already been created for you.  Feel free to use these or add your own personal touch to start fundraising today.  Contact us with any questions.   TEAMS The race is more fun with a crowd!  Recruit your family, grab a group of friends or assemble your co-workers and form a team!  Teams of 5 members or more will receive a $5/per runner discount on entry fee for the in-person 5k.  The first 4 members to register to the team pay current rate originally and will receive a $5 refund after the 5th member registers on the team.  After the first 4 members are registered, the discount will apply automatically at checkout for all other members with no coupon code needed!  (Sorry no team discounts for Virtual participants).
