The Rat Race - Ann Arbor

This annual event is more than just a race; it's a celebration that supports all sports programs at Huron, a prominent high school in the Ann Arbor School District. Known as the home of the River Rats, Huron boasts a diverse student body of nearly 1,800 students, including many from Schools of Choice and low-income backgrounds in Washtenaw County.Participating in sports isn't just about competition; it's about building skills that help high school students manage stress, foster a sense of belonging, and avoid risky behaviors. The Rat Race is dedicated to making interscholastic athletics accessible to every student, ensuring everyone can enjoy the benefits of teamwork and community engagement.

The race course begins and ends beneath Huron's iconic Arch, weaving through the picturesque campus and surrounding streets. Detailed course maps are available online, providing a visual guide to the route. Though the course is not USATF Certified, it offers a unique and challenging experience for all participants.

No matter the weather, the event promises to go on "rain or shine," so come prepared for whatever Mother Nature has in store. Registration and check-in open early in the morning under the Arch, the focal point of campus activity. Ample parking is available in the campus lots, with preferred spots near the football stadium and the Huron Spirit Rock/Tennis courts, accessible from Fuller Road.
