The "Wright" Run Against Drugs

This is a memorial run in honor of my son, Gage Wright. Gage lost his battle with opioid addiction on February 2, 2017 at the age of 21. At the time immediately preceding his death, I couldn't find any treatment options for him. Due to that, part of my goal with this event is to get information into the hands of as many people as possible. I bring in a number of different organizations that can help those in need of substance abuse education and/or rehabilitation. I combine that with a fun 5k color run, a DJ playing great music and a raffle of goods or services donated by local businesses. We also have Narcan training and free Narcan for anyone who wants it.

The run takes place on the paved walking path starting at Washington Park and going around Eyman Park. The 5k takes just a little over 3 laps to complete. There will be 5 different color stations set up as you run or walk through each lap. Our course is child and pet friendly. There are a few hills, but nothing crazy. I also provide a water station on the walking path. After the run, I provide bottled water, granola bars and bananas at no additional cost to participants.

All proceeds from this event are donated to The Fayette County Prevention Coalition to help enable them to continue their work of educating the youth in our community about drug use and abuse.

Each participant who registers prior to the event will receive an event shirt and swag bag. The swag bag will contain at the least: a pair of sunglasses to protect their eyes from the colored powder, a mask to keep the powder out of their mouths and a colored powder packet to throw into the air at the beginning of the run.

If you miss the registration deadline but would still like to participate, you can. You may register the day of the event for $20, but will NOT receive an event shirt or swag bag.

Unfortunately, I cannot give participants the option during registration to have your event items shipped to your home or the opportunity to purchase additional event shirts. If you are interested in either of these things, please contact me and we will work it out. The cost to ship your event items to your home is $7 each. Additional event shirts are $10 for Youth-XS through Youth-XL. $20 for Adult-S through Adult-4XL.

If you prefer to pick up your items in person, I will provide information for a pick up day prior to the event via phone call, text or email as soon as it is available. Or you may pick them up the day of the event when you check-in.
