Quicksilver Running Club annouces a 'new' 100K Endurance Run
02 Dec, 2013 (Mon)
SAN JOSE, CA. – Nov. 30, 2013 – Quicksilver Running Club of San Jose (QRC) announces a new 100K Endurance Run to take place May 10, 2014. After producing a widely popular and successful 50 Mile ultra marathon for 30 years, the Board of Directors has decided to create a 100 Kilometer event along with the 50K, replacing the 50 Mile and 25K distances. New course to be announced January 1, 2014.
Rajeev Patel, QRC’s new Race Director says, “This race will be epic!” Rajeev adds,“The new course will go higher and further into the Santa Cruz Mountains.” QRC’s goal is to create one of the most challenging 100K courses in North America while continuing to produce the most extravagant post-race celebration in ultra running.
QRC President Greg Lanctot mentioned, “The race and course have changed many times since the early 80’s, and this is the next logical step for our club and the trail running community. There are very few 100K races offered in the US. And, with the exponential growth occurring in ultra running, we feel that our club has the experience and passion to make this a very special experience.”
In addition to the Quicksilver 100K/50K in May of 2014, the club will produce its annual “Quicksilver Challenge” – trail half-marathon, 10K and kids run – later in the fall of ’14. QRC members have won numerous USATF Championships and established many records at internationally acclaimed races. QRC is also proud to have hosted the Duncan Canyon Aid Station (Mile 23.8) at the Western States 100Mile Endurance Run for more than 26 years.
The Quicksilver Running Club of San Jose – USATF #284, is a nonprofit organization that was formed in the early 1980s promoting physical well-being and friendships through running. Additionally, it has a purpose that reaches beyond the club, into our community, to promote Healthy Kids through trail running, and Trail Advocacy by expanding the accessibility of trails. Over the years we have contributed over $100,000to charity as well as maintaining trails within the Quicksilver County Park.
