Experience the exciting Guayaquil Marathon, the most important athletic event in the country held as part of the city's October festivities. Certified by World Athletics and a qualifier for the prestigious Boston Marathon, participants can choose from four distances - 5K, 11K, 21K, and 42K. The marathon course takes runners from the iconic 5 de Junio Bridge towards Av. 9 de Octubre, with a separate route for those in the 5K distance starting from Av. Carlos Julio Arosemena. Great route through downtown Guayaquil tunnels, canals, fancy neighbourhoods.
Early start: 5:00 am. Refreshment and signage well done.
Last 6-8 km with local traffic at next lane. I really did not like this nasty diesel smell.
The hills start at 30 km so spare your quadriceps for that :)
