About the event
This name is so good we wonder why no one thought of it before… It works on so many levels:
up to 43 miles of Gravel/Dirt Roads & Trails in the State of New Jersey
Your Kit will certainly be filthy when you finish
And then there are all the jokes about Jersey in general; thanks Joe Piscopo…
In summary, this is an all-day ride for the Full Course at ca 112 miles (39% unpaved) with more than 7300’ of climbing (according to Ride With GPS). The Short(er) Course is 86 miles (45% unpaved) with more than 4700' of climbing according to Ride With GPS). Both courses feature instances of single track on the Capoolong Trail, which have exposed rocks and roots.
The ride, conducted as a Randonnée starts and finishes at V5 Cycles in Flemington, and travels through Hunterdon, Morris, and Somerset Counties. These are courses that should make the adventurous quite happy.
The course will not be marked but we will provide cue sheets & GPS Files
There are no aid stations, but we designed the course to hit many well-placed stores and restaurants, where you can purchase food and beverages. A Camelback is suggested for riders on the full course, since some of the stores will not open early enough for you to hit them.
Post ride food and beverages (beer, water & soft drinks) will be provided.
The unpaved roads and trails are suitable for bikes with wider tires. Since the roads have a lot of washboarding this year, 35mm or wider are suggested).
This is a ride, and not a race, and the roads are open to normal vehicular traffic, so you are expected to obey all rules of the road.
Riders will start in an “At Will” manner; you choose your start time in the designated time period Full Course: 7:00AM - 7:30AM and Short(er) Course 7:30 - 8:00AM. The courses close at 7:30 PM (sunset is at 8:30 PM); all riders must be finished by this time.
