20 Along the Forth
About the event
To stay hydrated, water stations are strategically placed at miles 5.5, 10.5, and 14.5, but it's recommended to carry your own water bottle for refills. The clearly marked and marshalled route ensures a smooth experience.
This event is more than just a run; it supports The MS Society Scotland as a fundraising initiative, with participation limited to 800 entries.
Runners can choose from three wave starts to suit their pace:
- The early wave at 8.30am is for those planning a mix of running and walking, expecting to complete the course in 4 to 4.5 hours. Note that some marshal points may be unmanned, but the route is well-marked.
- The 9am wave is designed for runners targeting a 3 to 4-hour finish.
- The 9.30am wave is perfect for those aiming to finish in under 3 hours.
Join us for a pre-event Pasta Party the night before to fuel up and mingle with fellow participants!

The route is on approx 75% tarmac and 25% on very runnable trails. It is gently undulating (1150ft of overall climb over the 20 miles) but there are no ‘big’ hills to tackle. The route starts and ends at Cargilfield School, Barnton and takes you through the beautiful riverside paths in Dalmeny Estate then out into the town of South Queensferry and up and over the Forth Road Bridge before heading back.
