Will Kangogo Kimutai (2:14:56) beat Lemawork Ketema (2:14:57) by a second beachside in Brazil to win the Rio de Janeiro Marathon.
Kimutai cut more than three minutes from his second-place finish in 2013, to best nearly 4,000 runners.
Edson Amaro earned a third-place finish with a time of 2:16:51.
For the women, it was Caroline Chemutai Komen (2:38:19) making it in almost minute ahead of Anna Hahner (2:39:15) for first.
Third-place finisher Graciete Moreira Carneiro Santana (2:41:49) was the only other women to eclipse two hours and 45 minutes.
