Mark Greene (2:31:31) worked past waves of runners in the thousands to win the 8th annual Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio Marathon in Texas.
The race hit many of the city’s biggest landmarks including The Alamo, Trinity University, Mission San Jose, The River Walk and the Alamo Dome.
David Ramirez earned runner-up honors with a time of 2:33:03.
Jose Roberto Zavala Calderon (2:35:28) finished just ahead of last year’s runner-up Jason Butler (2:35:48) for third.
For the women, it was Stephanie Wurtz (2:58:54) winning with ease.
She was the only runner-up to finish under three hours.
Tanja Ivadic was first to follow at 3:07:34.
Ashley McGee (3:11:56), cut 15 seconds from her fourth-place finish a year ago.
She finished sixth in 2013.
Eighth in 2012.
Aaron Braun (1:04:11) beat out thousands to win the Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio Half Marathon.
Jeffery Eggleston took second with a time of 1:05:44.
Phillip Baar (1:06:39) rounded out the top three.
For the women, it was Kara Goucher getting the win.
Her time of 1:11:10 was good for eighth overall.
Sasha Gollish secured second with a time of 1:12:35.
Tying for third were Shalane Flanagan and Amy Hastings with the mutual mark of 1:12:42.
