Half Marathon results
The top three spots at The Scream! Half Marathon in Mortimer, North Carolina, were decided by less than a minute and a half with Andrew Charters coming in first at 1:21:31.7.
Close to 300 runners made their way from Jonas Ridge through the Pisgah Forest, down 2,000 ft. into the ghost town of Mortimer.
Robert Murray (1:22:15.3) managed to hold off Bill Johncock (1:22:59.8) for second.
For the women, it was Carolyn Yang cutting more than two minutes from last year’s first-place finish to successfully defend her title in 2015 with a time of 1:21:52.8.
Runner-up Alicia Rider, the only other women to come in under an hour and 37 minutes, finished in 1:26:10.4.
Marcy Utheim finished a minute slower than a year ago, but seven spots better, rounding out the top three with a time of 1:37:15.0.
